Renji Hospital
上海交通大学医学院附属仁济医院
About the hospital
Renji Hospital, affiliated with Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, is a Grade 3A general hospital. It traces its history to 18 February 1844, when the London Missionary Society opened a clinic in rented premises outside the east gate of Shanghai's old city. That clinic became the first hospital in Shanghai to practise Western medicine after the city opened as a port. Today the hospital combines patient care, medical teaching and research. Renji runs an international outpatient service at its North Campus in Pudong New Area. Shanghai's official international medical services directory lists support in several languages, including English, French, Japanese, German and Russian.
