About the hospital

Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University, is a large general teaching hospital in Shanghai. It opened in 1937 as one of the earliest large general hospitals founded and run by Chinese people, and it was originally affiliated with the National Shanghai Medical College. The hospital was among Shanghai's first group of Grade 3A hospitals. It is listed among China's national medical centres as the comprehensive (general) national medical centre. Since June 2021 the hospital has had an International Medical Department serving foreign patients, visitors from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and patients with commercial insurance.
