About the hospital
Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMCH) in Beijing was founded in 1921 by the Rockefeller Foundation and is the clinical school of Peking Union Medical College. It is a Class A tertiary (Grade 3A) comprehensive hospital, and China's National Health Commission has designated it one of the national guiding centres for the diagnosis and treatment of complex and severe disorders. The hospital combines patient care with medical education and research, and today operates four campuses. PUMCH was one of the earliest hospitals in China to provide medical care to foreign patients. Its International Medical Services department, established in 1951, serves embassy staff and international visitors.
