About the hospital
Shanghai Chest Hospital is a Grade 3A specialist hospital for diseases of the chest. It was founded in 1957, and in its founding year it was designated by the national Ministry of Health as a national training base for cardiothoracic surgery. The hospital took the name Shanghai Red Cross Chest Hospital in 2004, and in 2005 it became affiliated with Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Its work centres on two broad areas: tumours of the chest and cardiovascular disease. The hospital also has a long history of training specialists in this field.
